DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN RELIGIOUS SCIENCES

PRESENTATION

The PhD program in Religious Sciences offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of faith, theology, and the religious impact on society. We provide a program that combines academic rigor with a faith-based perspective. Additionally, it allows students to explore topics such as church history, Christian ethics, and interfaith dialogue. The program aims to equip researchers and religious leaders to make significant contributions in the academic field and the community.

TITLE AWARDED TO THE GRADUATE:
Doctor of Philosophy in Religious Sciences

OBJECTIVES:

The PhD in Religious Sciences is aimed at researchers and professionals who wish to deepen their academic training and advance in the production of original and interdisciplinary knowledge about the religious phenomenon. It is a course aimed at those who already have a solid academic base, usually acquired in a master’s degree, and who seek to make a significant contribution to the field of the Science of Religion through research and teaching.

WHO SHOULD APPLY:

  • Religious Leaders and Theologians,
  • Interested in Advanced Studies on Religion;
  • University Professors.

CORE AREAS:
CA 1: Religion, Culture, and Symbolic Systems;
CA 2: Religious Pluralism, Dialogue and Language;
CA 3: Religion, Education, Culture and Contemporaneity.

Estimated duration of 48 months. Being:
   • Stage 1 – courses / components;
   • Stage 2 – for the preparation of the senior paper (thesis) under direct guidance of an advisor;

The examination board will take place after the above-mentioned steps have been completed. If the student does not complete the thesis, they must enter into a contractual addendum and continue paying the course fees;

The student must make at least 04 (four) academic publications during the study period, these must be published in magazines with relevance index.

The student must complete an additional workload in participating in academic events and lifelong education and extension courses to form the academic-scientific curriculum.
