is known internationally as \u201cOrange October,\u201d a campaign that highlights the importance of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The goal of this initiative is to raise awareness in society about the importance of discussing and better understanding ADHD.<\/p>\n<p>According to the WHO, ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by a set of symptoms, including inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, manifesting itself in an intense and dysfunctional way for the person\u2019s age. It is estimated that this condition affects more than 2 million Brazilians.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that ADHD can also be diagnosed in people with syndromes and other disorders, such as Down syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).<\/p>\n<p>The challenges that ADHD imposes include learning difficulties, restlessness, memory deficits, socialization problems, and the social stigma associated with the disorder. These factors not only impact the life of the person diagnosed but have repercussions on social and economic aspects.<\/p>\n<p>To deal with these issues, an early and accurate diagnosis is essential. It should be carried out by health professionals, such as psychiatrists or neurologists, through a detailed assessment.<\/p>\n<p>However, despite the importance of early intervention, ADHD often goes unnoticed, largely due to prejudice. Because it is an \u201cinvisible disorder\u201d with no obvious physical signs, people with ADHD are often labeled as lazy or disorganized, when in reality they are dealing with symptoms that can be more difficult to identify. Many families only seek help when the situation is more serious.<\/p>\n<p>That is why campaigns such as \u201cOrange October\u201d are so important to raise awareness about the disorder and combat the stigma associated with it.
