VCCU professors and graduate students launch an e-book
With the aim of presenting freedom related to the works of writers who portrait
the context of the Society of Control and conceptualizing fundamental rights, more specifically, rights related to freedom as the foundation of human dignity, also drawing parallels with libertarian philosophical classics, professors from Veni Creator Christian University have published a material with almost 325 pages.
The book is written by Dr. Acilina Candeia (President of the institution), Dr. Maria Emília Camargo, Dr. Marcela Martins and Gabriely Diniz, and is published by Editora Global Academy and entitled “Human rights and interdisciplinarity for the development of vulnerable populations”.
One of the excerpts from the article addresses the power and control of the masses, within the vision of Michel Foucault.
“One of the main contemporary authors, Michel Foucault, produced his works with themes based on the power relations that permeate the social environment and show how the dominated submit to the dominators in all social strata in a constant struggle to maintain power to the detriment of individual freedoms. In his works, he deals with themes such as micropower, the panopticon, docile bodies, biopower, among others, which end up demonstrating a society of control and discipline where public institutions, factories, prisons and families are used as mechanisms of control and training so that all the energy necessary to generate profit can be extracted from the individual and his workforce, even if this costs his physical or mental freedom.” In the preface written by Dr. Acilina Candeia, she highlights how the e-book came about and its relevance for the academic community and the transformation of society. “Human Rights and Interdisciplinarity for the Development of Vulnerable Populations” is the result of oral communication groups from the second edition of the International Multidisciplinary Congress (CIVENI), an event promoted by the American higher education institution Veni Creator Christian University in 2024, promoting work in various areas of knowledge that focus on the role of scientific research as a tool for the transformation of society and the development of vulnerable populations”.
Organized by educators and professionals from VCCU, this e-book is divided into twenty-three chapters that present the results of multiple research projects conducted by students and professors from the institution’s postgraduate courses, proving its commitment to scientific research of real relevance.
